Firebird and GDS32.DLL

Just want to bump this problem up again. Firebird 1.5 has ‘DLL Hell‘ that bring your client connection to database fail. Its caused by incompatible gds32.dll library installed in your system directory (Windows-System32 folder).

There are 3 workarounds you can choose:

1. You must build a “legacy-compatible” gds32.dll and install it to your system directory. You can use a instclient.exe program from the ..\bin directory of Firebird
2. Copy the fbclient.dll to your system directory and name it as gds32.dll (overwriting the old one).
3. For Windows XP system, Just copy the fbclient.dll to your application folder and name it as gds32.dll, this workaround could be done because of built-in side-by-side DLL functionality

Server Movement Completed

Akhirnya.. migrasi hosting dan domain telah sepenuhnya selesai. Setelah proses penggantian NS di DOMAINID, proses relokasi file dan database berjalan dengan lancar. Yang agak tersendat adalah setting mail account dan pengaturan ulang subdomain.

Setting account ini cukup tricky karena saya menggunakan 2 domain yang mengarah ke hosting yang sama, yaitu domain bprasetio.or.id dan bprasetio.delphi-id.org yang mengarah ke hosting ServerMerdeka. Mulanya saya menganggap domain bprasetio.or.id lah yang dijadikan domain utama, namun ternyata justru domain ini lah yang di-park, sehingga setting login harus mengarah ke domain yang tepat…

Untuk pengaturan ulang subdomain, sementara official page yang dulunya berada di-root, saya pindah menjadi subdomain, jadi jika semula http://www.bprasetio.or.id maka sekarang menjadi home.bprasetio.or.id.

Ah.. akhirnya saya gak perlu sewa hosting lagi… bener2 mengoptimalkan hadiah gratisan dari ServerMerdeka dan Delphi Indonesia, makasih ya…

walaupun saya selama ini cuman pake Delphi (eh dari jaman TP3, TP5-7, BPW, Delphi1 sampai D2006, dan sedikit TC dan C++Builder), tapi rassanya nama Borland sudah melekat erat.. apalagi bagi mereka yang benar2 bekerja dibalik layar dengan sepenuh hati ya…

btw, gimana kalo yg beli M$ yah…. 😀
